Synopsis:
“The events in these stories are real. Some names have been changes so I don’t get yelled at.” —Ned Vizzini
Ned Vizzini writes about the weird, funny, and sometimes mortifying moments that made up his teen years. With wit, irony, and honesty, Teen Angst? Naaah . . . invites you into Ned’s world of school, parents, cool (and almost cool), street people, rock bands, friends, fame, camp, sex (sort of), Cancún (almost), prom, beer, video games, and more.
Thoughts:
This was not at all what I was expecting. Honestly, I have no idea what I was expecting. I feel horrible only giving this book a 3 star considering the fact that Ned has passed away. I really liked the stories, but for me, I just didn't love them .I did, however, love being in Ned's life as a teen. Sometimes on the pages Ned put a * (enders note?) and would write something else. like an add on. For example, he was talking about a band he was in and he left the link down at the bottom of the page. It was so amazing because it made the book come alive per say.
I knew Ned was struggling with depression and he was for quite some time, which makes me sad because while I was reading, I didn't see any signs of him struggling. I just witnessed a totally happy guy living life. I learned that Ned was a straight up Math nerd and I was not expecting that. It was so cool!
If you love Ned, you must read this book. It will make you sad because he lives through in his books. But this book is still so, so incredible!
