Favorite Book Quotes

Need Series by Carrie Jones

Need (Need, #1)Life fractures all of us into little pieces. It harms us, but it's how we glue those fractures back together that makes us stronger.

I don't remember which book this quote was from, I want to say it was the 3rd one. However, I read this series about 3 or so years ago and still to this day this is my #1 book quote that I always remember. It's so honest. I've been broken loads of times and every time I am, I look back to this quote and remember that it's my power to choose how I want to be hurt and how I can use that to my advantage.

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan

Two Boys KissingSo many of us had to make our own families. So many of us had to pretend when we were home. So many of us had to leave. But every single one of us wishes we hadn’t had to. Every single one of us wishes our family had acted like our family, that even when we found a new family, we hadn’t had to leave the other one behind. Every single one of us would have loved to have been loved unconditionally by our parents.

I love this quote. It's so incredibly powerful. I remember when I first read it, I became very sad and teary eyed. I just can't image being in a family where no one wanted me or loved me. I think that's why they quote spoke out to me so much is because it's so heartbreaking and at the same time it makes me really angry that people can do this to their family.

The Book Thief by Markus Suzak

The Book ThiefTwo weeks to change the world, fourteen days to destroy it.

This quote is also beyond beautiful. I think some people, when they hear two weeks, it seems like a really long time but when using fourteen days, it doesn't seem long at all. That's why I think this quote is brilliant. It can seem like forever when we are trying to change the world, but it is so easy to destroy it. We need to choose wisely.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

Between Shades of Gray“But how can they just decide that we're animals? They don't even know us," I said. "We know us," said Mother. "They're wrong. And don't ever allow them to convince you otherwise. Do you understand?”

The reason this quote was said in the book is for sad reasons, but I read it and all I see is not letting someone take away who you are. Don't let them take away your happiness or your humor or your spirit. People are so quick to judge one another. Sometimes these can be nasty remarks, but never let them change the way you  think about yourself.

Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson

TwistedEverybody told me to be a man. Nobody told me how.

This is also another book quote that has stuck with me. We always seem to have expectations of people and people always seem to have expectations about us, but we don't know how to live up to them. They want us to succeed, do well in school, be the all star football player. The best way to live is to your own accord, not to someone else's.

  1. This is such an interesting post! I might do this in the future, haha :P Thanks for the inspiration <3 I love the Book Thief! And the quote you put there is a great one, and I like it because it sounds very mysterious and powerful. (Because Death is narrating so he's powerful somehow.)

I've always wanted to read Between Shades of Grey! The quote is lovely :D
